Brits of the Hudson deliver John to HEMMINGS magazine

This is just to let everyone know who is following the website that “uncle jack” and John have made it as far as Bennington, Vermont.
The earlier report was brief, owing to a thunderstorm and power surges, so we spent minimal time on-line. The trip was superbly organised by Dennis Culligan who had done at least two prior ‘recces’ – and this included the pub we used for lunch!
The morning saw the assembled company of TR’s, a Mk II and Mk IV Spitfires, a Frog-Eye Sprite, several MGB’s and a Sunbeam Alpine gathering at a nearby coffee shop for a START at 09.30 prompt. We left only five minutes late and the early part of the drive was along the Taconic State Parkway in rain that wasn’t too hard and didn’t last all that long – and it was a GREAT drive!
Then we stopped for lunch at “THE MAN OF KENT” near Bennington
… and finally, well-beered and fed, we all arrived at HEMMINGS magazine where we were welcomed by Editorial Director, David LaChance.
Too soon, it was time to say ‘goodbye’ – but very special thanks to Dennis Cullgan for arranging such a splendid day for everyone. The rain finally give way to sunshine and the little Frog-Eye Sprite did the whole trip with the top down – even in the rain!
After everyone had gone, David LaChance interviewed John for a soon-to-be-released ‘podcast’ about the Drive as a whole and the various issues in John’s life that led to its creation. If you’re a regular visitor to the Hemming’s website, you’ll see a TTACD link – and when we know the podcast is ready for public consumption, we’ll let you know.
