Burlington, ONTARIO to Sarnia, ONTARIO
By John | July 31, 2009
A small caravan of car’s left Tony Fox’s house in Burlington at about 10.0am. Malcolm and Brenda Taylor with “Buster” (their Cairn terrier),
Jeff (Cosmo) Kramer in his TR4A – and still with us all the way to Indiana – Tony Fox in TR6.
Worth mentioning here that the Taylor’s did a truly marathon drive in this car a few years ago, when they hauled a trailer tent from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Vancouver – and back!!! They did 19,000 miles in 91 days, had lots of probs with the trailer but not one with the car. That journey makes TTACD fade into insignificance in terms of time and distance. “Buster” kept an eye on things all the way and found the best method was to keep his head well outside the door – about 12″ into the slipstream!
It was a warmish drive – but sun shining all the way and we met up with Mark Jones, supported by members of Bluewater British Car Club, to take us on from London to Corunna, Sarnia. That particular caravan, was probably the longest single caravan of the event to date. There were 14 cars taking part in total. While waiting to depart, the whole group posed for photographs around “uncle jack” for The London Free Press. Seems the paper was running a story – but we can’t find it on the ‘net
On arriving at Mark and Judy Jone’s house in Corunna, everything was ready in their garden for a most enjoyable ‘Beer ‘n Burger’ evening – with the option for a swim (voluntary or otherwise) in their pool.
Within minutes, Tara Hagan, a reporter from the Sarnia Observer arrived with her camera and interviewed John about the trip this far – and PTSD. You can see her report – and the video she took by clicking on the link below

By the end of the day, everyone had had a most enjoyable day – and “Buster” was very tired as well. Malcolm told me that when fatigue sets in with “Buster” in the car, he tends to dribble. The dribble then finds its way into the door jamb and damages the paint! A repaint of this area is very imminent, so “Buster” must have been very busy navigating over the last few months! We can’t close off this day’s event without giving a picture of “Buster” himself. Without him, “uncle jack” might well be heading north from Lake Superior by now.
