« Goodbye St. Paul – or was it Minneapolis? | Main | Winnipeg to Regina »
Hello Canada (for the third time!)
By John | September 1, 2009
Well, they let “uncle jack” and I in and what a welcome at the border. This has continued into the following day.
A visit this afternoon to Lower Fort Garry – a former outpost of The Hudson Bay Company – and a truly fascinating walk back into the history of the 19th century – and earlier.
An excellent party tonight arranged by Triumph Driver’s Club of Manitoba which saw over 50 cars in the car park, nearly 100 people at the meal and substantial – really substantial largesse at a corporate and personal level by the noble and amazing people of Winnipeg.
Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone.
On top of that, over the last 24 hours, there have been two radio interviews, one TV interview and another with a journalist for the largest Manitoba daily newspaper.
Sorry everyone, but I’ve got a mass of pix to download, it’s late – and there’s another six hours at the wheel tomorrow to get to Regina, then it’s Calgary – and if I’m not there at Calgary Airport to meet Mrs. M. on Saturday morning, life could be a bit uncomfortable. Will do my best to keep the site updated each day – but pix may have to be a bit of a luxury. Hope you all understand?
