Winnipeg to Regina
By John | September 3, 2009
Sorry, still no pix!
Left Winnipeg this mornng around 09.15 accompanied by a Stag ad a supercharged MGB Roadster. High-tailed it but still within speed limit to Saskatchewan border where we met Scott McGibney and Ed from Saskatchewan British Car Club. The whole group then moved a few miles further to The Red Barn restaurant for lunch in Moosiman. Afterwards, it was time to go our separate ways, so Stag and MG trod the homeward path while “uj” tailgated a Morgan 4/4 ever westwards.
We took two diversions along the Qu’Appelle Valley, stopped briefly for a beer and arrived for an informal and most agreeable supper with JagNuts of Regina.
Tomorrow is ‘bath day’ for “uncle jack” – his frst since Coloado, and he’s FILTHY – especially in the squashed bugs department! Then we depart for a private visit to John’s Dad’s childhood home in Regina and onwards to Maple Creek for an ovenight stay before driving to Calgary on Friday.
Initial impressions of Canada from Winnipeg westwards? Well, it’s rather wide, the roads are very straight, very unchallenging in terms of steep hills, lots of moquitoes are obviously tired of living (if “uj’s” windscreen is any guide) and the people are great.
But then, that last observation applies to everyone we’ve met so far – on both sides of the border.
