Hey – it’s the Pacific! Time to turn left for the ‘downhill’ bit

    By John | September 12, 2009

Today has been one of relaxation and getting to know Vancouver – a bit.

Thanks to the concerted efforts of Allan Reich and others from British Columbia Triumph Registry, Liz and I had a delightful guided tour later on this morning that rolled over into the afternoon.

In a caravan comprising a TR3A, a TR250, a TR6 – and “uncle jack” (of course) we explored the Vancouver waterfront, examined Totem Poles, enjoyed Fish ‘n Chips at Prospect Point, drove the Suspension Bridge and then travelled uphill a long way to overlook the city, the ocean and the surrounding islands. In the distance with its customary cap of snow was Mount Baker. The weather today was utterly glorious and “uj” had his top down to celebrate the occasion.

The return to our respective bases was delayed owing to major traffic jams following two serious accidents, so we had some refreshments – and waited. Then, when the traffic jam had unblocked itself, we returned to Allan’s home and gave “uncle jack” his first bath since leaving Regina. No, it’s not because I’ve been too lazy to wash him beforehand!!! I had a rather demanding self-imposed schedule to maintain – and the prairie skies leaked a bit as well. Anyway, he now looks presentable for the BCTR Show ‘n Shine event tomorrow.

I’ve just waded through another slug of emails and found one I’d missed from Hemmings magazine.  If you’ve been following this blogevent for several moons, you’ll probably remember I called in to see those kind people in Bennington, Vermont in mid-July? While there, I was interviewed by Associate Editor, David LaChance – and that interview is now available as a podcast from the Hemmings Radio site. Click here to go to the download page.

Just be aware the interview goes on for about 35 minutes!!

TODAY’S POST-IT NOTE. Engine oil and filter change when we reach Portland, please guys. Anyone know anyone with a car lift, perchance? It’s so much easier that way than lying on your back :)
